The Annual General Meeting was held in the Learning Centre at 7:15pm on Thursday 24th October 2019 and dealt with the following business:
Since the Supporters’ Association took over from the defunct Trust, it has had to show that it is different and that it intends to add a social side to the Club while raising funds to distribute towards club needs and items to enhance the match day and so on. These include
There will be a donation towards the Young Bucks Christmas party and for the presents for the first team hospital visit, amongst others.
Much of the funds raised to date have been from successful events but there have also been a number of events that have been cancelled. While we are still finding our feet, it is important to remember that those of us who meet regularly, don’t have the skills or knowledge of setting up events to become successful. It is my view that we could almost double our income if we could add those cancelled events to the total.
It is the view of those who organise these events that we have a lack of mind power in deciding what, when, who and where with ideas and this means that it becomes less likely that we take a small risk to put something on and so, eventually, potentially becoming a non-contributary organisation.
Those of us committed to continue to organise events would love to see some new faces with new ideas and a willingness to help out on match days too. Many of you would have seen some of us on a match day working away in the club shop, taking care of our growing number of elderly and disabled fans, also those of the opposing team, looking after the ball crew and then picking up litter at the end of each game. But there lies the rub…how to bring in more people to assist those here already?
As you probably realise by now, the only real position that is filled on the committee is the treasurer and Carolyn does an excellent job of looking after what goes in and what comes out. It’s positions like chairman which I’m acting as, although I’m down as vice chairman, secretary and a membership secretary which we need to fill, for no other reason than to keep in touch with the TUSA membership and signing up new applicants.
In the near future, TUSA in conjunction with the board of AFC Telford United, will be looking to bring in the Fans Experience Company. They will assess elements of match days, look around, maybe come and ask you a few questions as to what you would like to see to enhance your match day experience. This will come at a cost, there will be items which the club alone may wish to implement, likewise for TUSA, but some where we both need to come together and also learn how to bring in new faces to help on a regular basis.
The report which I’m sure will give us a better insight to that which I’ve just mentioned, is not another peer review carried out on behalf of the old Trust. Far from it, the feedback given by the Fan Experience Company will be acted upon as and when we can, implementing relevant suggestions, all to make this club of ours, a better club.
We really hope that you will all give it the encouragement it will need and that you may be encouraged to join in.
This all, of course, relies on how people feel and that feeling, we hope, will be garnered from the better football being played on the pitch.
