"Bucks hope to storm The Citadel"

Match Date : December 5th, 2020 3:00 pm
Competition : National League North
Ground : The Citadel
Kick Off : 15:00

This fixture was originally scheduled for Tuesday 9th February. It has been moved due a change in dates with this season’s FA Trophy.

The Bucks face West Yorkshire opposition for the third Saturday in a row, as Gavin Cowan takes his men to Farsley Celtic this weekend.

Celtic went out of business in 2010, but have been gradually climbing back up the pyramid ever since. Originally reforming as Farsley AFC, the Villagers have achieved three promotions in nine years. And in the 2018/19 season, Adam Lakeland’s side held off a strong chasing pack to finish three points clear of the field and claim the Northern Premier League title.

The Celts made a great start to their first season back in the National League North, but their form after Christmas was patchy. Lakeland’s side ultimately finished in 11th position, three places above the Bucks.

Farsely’s inconsisent form has continued into this campaign too. With three wins, five draws and four defeats, they’re currently 8th with 14 points from 12 games. However, the Villagers haven’t lost at home in the league this season (one win, four draws) and are undefeated in four – a run including draws with Kidderminster Harriers and Chester and wins over Gloucester City and Southport.

Jimmy Spencer continues to provide Celtic’s main threat up front, while Will Hayhurst and Dave Syers offer energy and invention in midfield.

A last minute screamer from centre half Danny Ellis rescued a point for the Celts when the sides met at the Citadel in January, while Farsley won 2-0 at the New Bucks Head.

Despite a raft of injuries and suspensions, the Bucks have impressed in recent weeks, picking up three wins from four. And with Tuesday’s clash had to be called off, Gavin Cowan’s men will be itching to get back out there, as the Bucks go in search of three successive wins.
