"Bucks look to clip the Robins' wings"

First up, this Saturday will see the sides do battle at the New Bucks Head.

After a slow start to the current campaign – Phil Parkinson’s side won just one of their opening seven games – Alty have gradually risen up the table and currently sit in 6th spot. A run to the second round of the FA Cup was perhaps the main reason why the Robins found themselves languishing in the bottom half of the table earlier this season. Alty were eventually knocked out of the cup by a last-minute goal at League One Portsmouth.

Since exiting the cup, the Greater Manchester club have won seven out of 11 league games, drawing twice and losing twice. And Alty have been particularly impressive in front of their own fans. Parkinson’s side have the division’s second-best home record having lost just once at Moss Lane this season. But the Robins have won just three out of 13 league games on the road, so the Bucks have reason to be confident heading into Saturday’s encounter.

Last season, the sides drew 1-1 at the New Bucks Head; Andre Brown’s late penalty cancelling out Jordan Hulme’s opener. Hulme is in the goals again this season with 14 to his name, while former Buck Josh Hancock has 12 strikes this campaign.

Gavin Cowan will be hoping for a positive result this weekend before the two sides do it all over again on Tuesday night.
