"Bucks back in Trophy action at Darlo"

Match Date : December 19th, 2020 3:00 pm
Competition : FA Trophy
Ground : Blackwell Meadows
Kick Off : 15:00

The Bucks face Darlington in the third round of the FA Trophy this Saturday.

It’ll be the second time the Bucks have visited Blackwell Meadows in little over a month, after Cowan’s men triumphed 2-1 in County Durham in mid-November.

This time, Darlington will be able to call on joint-top scorer Luke Charman. Charman, prolific during his time in the Newcastle United academy, missed the league game with the Bucks but has already notched five goals this campaign. And Telford will also have to keep an eye on Erico Sousa, who has scored in four of the Quakers’ last six games including Darlo’s goal against the Bucks. The County Durham club snapped up Sousa after he put in an impressive against them for Tadcaster Albion in the FA Cup earlier this season.

Alun Armstrong’s side currently find themselves in the bottom two of the National League North, although that likely has a lot to do with the fact that Darlo have only managed seven league games so far this season – significantly fewer than most other sides.

The Quakers started the campaign by going on an impressive run in the FA Cup, eventually losing to Bristol Rovers in the second round. The squad was then hit by COVID-19 and had to self-isolate, so the only game Darlington have played since their Cup exit was Wednesday’s 2-0 Trophy win over City of Liverpool.

The Bucks, meanwhile, come into the game on the back of a record-breaking 10-1 win at Coleshill Town. Six different Telford players got on the scoresheet on Tuesday night at Pack Meadow, including a hat-trick apiece for Dom McHale and Aaron Williams.

Both teams have won three of their last five games, each keeping two clean sheets in the process. But the Bucks have won on each of their last two visits to Blackwell Meadows and will be hoping to extend their run in this year’s Trophy by making that three in row this weekend.
