The Bucks are back in FA Cup action this Tuesday, with a long trip to Suffolk to face Leiston in the third qualifying round.
The Blues have started their league campaign slowly but have excelled in the Cup, notching 12 goals in their three ties so far. A 5-0 win over Halstead, was followed up with a 5-1 victory over Biggleswade Town before overcoming Leighton Town 2-1 in the last round.
It’s been a different story in the league, however, with Leiston currently sitting second bottom of the Southern League Premier Central – one step below the Bucks. In fact, the Victory Road club have failed to record a win in any of their five league games so far, picking up just two points from a possible 15.
It was a similar story last season for the Blues, who were 19th (out of 22) when the campaign ended earlier in March. That led to the departure of boss Glen Driver, with new joint-managers Darren Eadie and Chris Wigger taking the reins shortly afterwards. Eadie had a successful playing career with Norwich City and Leicester City, while Wigger has management experience in the Norfolk non-league scene.
The Bucks will have to watch out for Will Davies and Liam Jackson, who between them have already hit double figures.
Gavin Cowan’s men beat Chasetown on penalties in the last round and, after a win and a draw to kick off the league campaign, the Bucks will be going to keep their unbeaten start going on Tuesday.
